Congratulations in taking great steps towards a joyous birthing day! The word doula is a Greek word meaning women’s servant. Women have been serving other women in childbirth for centuries. It is proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process.
Doulas provide emotional support during pregnancy, throughout labor and birth, and postpartum care. We encourage the use of many comfort measures including breathing, relaxation, movement and positioning. Doulas also assist partners in supporting the laboring mother without taking their place, providing guidance and encouragement of what to do. Such help, can be extremely helpful for an experienced birthing partner or a first time dad. Doulas become a part of your 'team'.
During prenatal care doulas can provide information, resources and give explanations of events before and during labor. Prenatal visits also consist on practicing comfort measures for the birthing day. During the labor process the doula is there to reassure and comfort the mother, and to encourage the mother to be informed of all her birthing choices. Doulas also help the mother to communicate her needs to her care provider without speaking for her.
As a doula, we are there to support you in YOUR choices of how you want to experience and write YOUR birthing story.
Statistical information about how a doula can benefit you can be found here.

THE DOULA PACKAGE
*Should an unlikely scenario arise in which I would be unable to attend your birth (sickness, injury, etc.) a back up doula will be provided for you. You will have the opportunity to meet them during the interview and prenatal visit process.
DOULA FEES
As I embark on this Doula adventure I am offering adjusted fees as I start to round out my business. Not all doulas need to be certified to practice, however, it is important to me that you know I plan to uphold a commitment to you but also to my doula community and operate under the DONA scope. My fees are adjusted as a thank you to you, in helping me get started.
Retaining Fee - $450, due upon signing the Letter of Agreement when you choose me as your doula!
Final Balance - $600, due at first Postpartum Visit or before.
Total - $1050
- Interview: It is important, and recommended that you interview 2-3 doulas until you find the right person for your birth. As a doula, all should be open and willing to do this for you at no cost. If you have questions or need other doula recommendations I can provide that information.
- 1-2 Prenatal Visits: This is for your doula to get to know YOU and have a great understanding of your birth wishes to best guide you through the process. We will also practice unique laboring techniques to help aid you during labor.
- Continuous support during labor and birth: This includes being 'On Call' with unlimited phone, text messaging and email communications for the 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your expected birthing time. *
- 1-2 Postpartum Visits: This is for you to get the emotional support you may need once you bring baby home. Your doula will debrief your journey and answer or address questions you may face as new parents or a growing family. Postpartum visits are essential in the reflection of your birthing process
- Receive 20% off your HypnoBirthing® private or group classes!
